Fisher-Price Toy Recall
Attention all Parents!
Huge recall from Fisher-Price has been announced. Nearly a million toys are being recalled because of high levels of lead in the paint. Fisher Price / Mattel has notified the Consumer Product Safety Commission and the public of a recall involving Sesame Street and Dora the Explorer/Diago character toys. The toys involved in the recall were made in China and manufactured between April 19, 2007 and July 6, 2007.
The lead paint problem was discovered by an internal probe, reports David Allmark, general manager of Fisher-Price. He states the recall was “fast-tracked” allowing Mattel to stop the distribution of two-thirds of the toys before they even made it to the store shelves. This recall is disturbing especially since Mattel is considered a role model in how they work in China and maintains strict quality control measures. An investigation is in the works to find out how this happened with Mattel’s long standing Chinese vendor and Allmark adds that “we will learn from this.”
